Website Goes Live With A Huge Witchfindery Competition!

Hello & Welcome to my brand new website!

Here you’ll find all the latest news and info on my books as well as my occasional blogs on all manner of grim and ghastly goings on in the world of children’s horror and thriller writing, TV and movies plus… well, anything else that occurs to me, really! You can also find information on the WITCHFINDER EXPERIENCE, an event I take into schools and festivals, as well as my creative writing classes (see tag above).

But to kick this new website off in style I’ve decided to run a unique competition! The prize is:

1. A signed copy of my first children’s thriller, Witchfinder: Dawn of the Demontide,

2. A signed Witchfinder pull-out poster with Book 1 extract.

3. A copy of Malcolm Gaskill’s excellent Witchfinders: A Seventeenth-Century English Tragedy (which I used while researching Witchfinder 2: Gallows at Twilight – it tells you everything you ever wanted to know about witchfinding… and a few things you probably didn’t!).

4. Your very own demon familiar in the form of a massive hairy spider (not real!), just like the one I use in the Witchfinder Experience.

5. Copies of Bram Stoker’s Dracula, Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and Robert Louis Stevenson’s Dr Jekyll & Mr Hyde – the 3 classic horror novels which I cheekily reference in the Witchfinder trilogy.

Not a bad prize, eh?! And all you have to do to be in with a shot at winning is put a comment on this blog! It can be in any form – a simple ‘hi’ or a few words about why you love horror/thrillers/witchfinders/witches – anything you like really. The competition will close on 15th July – my birthday! – so you have plenty of time to enter. Good luck, and thanks for visiting the new site!

fantastic competition & an ace website!
Have ordered your books for my library
    (for halloween display)

  3. Zarina says:

The website is looking fab! Ever since I saw a talk of yours at Foyles in London (aaaages ago) I have been wanting to read your books since you made the first one sound so exciting but since my to read pile is still so huge I haven’t taken the time yet to seek out the Witchfinder books in the shops. However, reading above that they’re referencing Dracula, Frankenstein and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde (three books I love!) definitely makes me even more eager to start the series. Perhaps the final motivation I need is receiving the actual first book in the mail *hint hint* 😉

Ahoy 🙂 Love the new website, Witchfinder #1 is still
my favourite book from last year 🙂

I think I need a big hairy spider more than anybody else
does, I’m writing a book that involves one at the moment
and a spider familiar would be just what I need! 🙂

  21. Susan Elliston says:

just had to say that anytime any author can get kids to read, they have done fantastic. Well done on getting those young minds turning pages instead of playing video games.

  22. William Hussey says:

Hi all – thanks for the comments : )

James – I’m looking into an Appearances page –
unfortunately, at the moment, I’ve maxed out
the space I have in menu bar. Also sad to say
I have no plans to come to Nottingham just yet –
I’m currently in writing lockdown mode! – but
will be sure to let you know when I’m in your
    neck of the woods!

Jim – I’d be happy to do an interview. My time
is a little taken up just now but please do
drop me a line. You can find my contact email
    in the Schools section.

    Thanks again, guys : )

  23. James says:

Hi William, can you put a bit on the website telling
us all of any upcoming events you have planned?
    Especially around Nottingham.
    Thanks

  24. Sarah Bibi Setar says:

Wow! What an awesome giveaway! Thanks so much:)

I haven’t read Dracula or Frankenstein, but I have read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and, I have to say, it creeped me out a little. I also haven’t read any of the Witchfinder books, so I’m hoping to read them some day. I wish you all the best in your future writing endeavours and I like the layout of this site.

    Thanks again

    Very impressive contest!

  26. Zac Harding says:

Hi William. I haven’t read your books yet but have just put reserves
on them in our library. I love horror books, especially those aimed at
children and young adults, because they’re always full of action
and suspense to keep you reading. I love Joseph Delaney, Derek
Landy and Barry Hutchison so I’m looking forward to reading your
    books.

    Thanks,
    Zac

  27. Nat Cleary says:

Wow, thanks for the chance. My boys would love the spider!!

  28. James says:

Just found the comment joseph Delaney made
about your books. I have read his books and met him
a couple of times, you must be really pleased that he
    thought so highly of yours?

  29. James says:

Love the new site. Any chance you will be visiting Nottm again
    in the near future?
    thanks

  30. Jim Mcleod says:

Brilliant prize, I came here with an ulterior motive. I was wondering if you would be interested in doing an interview on my blog

    http://thegingernutcase.blogspot.com/

    many thanks

    jim mcleod

  31. Sarah says:

Wow that’s quite a giveaway! Is the spider like the one you had with you at the OUP event last halloween?

Loving the new website design, it looks great :o) I really loved the first 2 books & can’t wait to get my hands on The Last Nightfall!
